Hola! Bonjour!
Well, here we find ourselves at the end of day 5. Wow, time flies when you're having fun, eh? I'm sitting outside listening to the sounds of the insects with a little puppy curled up next to me and typing this. While we miss home, we'll be sad to leave this place too. :)
Today we spent the day around the village we are staying in, La Guacima, and at the El Rancho. It was our 2nd day of community service. We loaded up our painting supplies again and this time went to an elementary school nearby.
I thought this was a nice slogan. Do you know enough Spanish to figure it out?Our job at the school consisted of two parts - 1, sand a classroom set of desks and chairs and revarnish them. 2nd, repaint the principal's office.
This time, because it was a weekday, school was in session, so we got to see these charming little kids and talk w/ them a bit. :)
Trace joined in for a bit of soccer.
Then we all went to PE class and played soccer for a bit. It was HOT. Whoa. Not sure if the teams were fair (big kids vs. little kids?) but hey, those little kids held their own. :)
Some shots from around the school.
Lunch break.
Done with the desks!
Working on the principal's office.
Finally, when we were done, we sorted all of our school supplies into 19 piles of various items to deliver to a class. We went into the classroom and each of our kids gave each of those kids a stack of new supplies. They were seriously thrilled with them. Too cute. =) One girl was admiring her new big purple notebook and she says to me, "Como se dice 'grande' en ingles?" I said, "big." She loved her big new purple notebook!
Finally, we ended the day at the Rancho to hang out and have our dancing lesson.
I think we might have some new pros in our group!
Just wait until you see the video of all this! ::smile::
Tomorrow is a very full day of heading out to Isla Tortuga! Our last day here, crazy!?
Thanks for reading! Hasta manana!
What a great trip! I think a lot of parents would like to go in the future!! Nosotros estamos triste con Callista en Costa Rica!!!
